Aluminum Mini Blinds

Aluminum blinds are the most inexpensive blinds you can put up in your house. They are a popular choice, known among shoppers as mini blinds because they have such narrow slats. Mini blinds are perfect if you're on a budget or need privacy. They provide a low-cost, durable window treatment that is easy to keep clean and otherwise maintain.

Aluminum blinds come in some 100 colors and have a wide range of textured finishes, including metallic, hammered and brushed, suede and pearl. Duotone blinds are 2-colored. They provide the customer the ability to choose one color to blend with the inside dŽcor, and another color to be viewed from the street.

Measuring the Gauge and Size

The quality of aluminum window blinds is usually measured by their gauge--that is, the thickness of the aluminum slats. The bigger the gauge, the better the blinds. Slats come in 6, 8, or 9-gauge aluminum. The bigger the gauge of the slat the more durable it is.

Aluminum blinds also come in micro ( 1/2-inch), mini (1-inch), and 2-inch sized slat size. The 2-inch slats provide the best sun control and are also less intrusive when viewed from outside. The 1-inch slats look more sophisticated and stylish than the 2-inch blinds.

Vertical Blinds

Most aluminum blinds are horizontal, but they can also be vertical. Vertical blinds are a good choice when you want to add height to a room. They work well on large picture windows and with sliding doors. Vertical blinds usually have wider slats because they are usually filling larger spaces than ordinary window blinds. Because they're large, vertical blinds work better when their textures are subtle and complement existing furniture.
